Where is everybody?

We took some days off and went to one of our favorite places in the Netherlands for a short getaway: Schouwen-Duiveland, Zeeland. The area has lots of forest that turns into dunes, perfect for walking, cycling and mountain biking. During this break we also discovered Zeelands beaches and they are amazing! We both grew up near the sea, closeby popular beaches in Zandvoort and Bloemendaal. But we never went in the weekend during summer break because of the crazy crowd.

This time we had no choice, the weather was just too perfect, so we went to the beach on a Saturday expecting lots of people. We jumped on our bikes (we brought those along) and drove to one of the beaches near Burgh-Haamstede. It has to be said, there was no car access nor facilities, but there was nobody! Okay, maybe three other couples and a dog. But we couldn’t believe it, we had the whole beach to ourselves in sunny August! We love this place!

You don’t believe us? Check it out in our video:

We were on a campsite for 4 days so we could really test the duration of our second battery this time. When it’s sunny and 25 degrees it will last for more than two whole days (charging fridge, phones, etc.), so when it’s really hot it will probably still last for one full day. In 2.5 hours driving it’s fully charged again. We can work with that! So no solar panels for us! We also decided to buy a small shower/toilet/changing tent. We will camp wild and there will be curious Africans around so at least we can dig a hole and take a shit in some sort of privacy ๐Ÿ˜‰

The storage in the back proved to work very well! We could easily fit everything in our crates and we are very happy with the open space in between the two frames. This space arises once you unload the table and chairs, something you will do the minute you are arrive on the campsite. We also tanked some diesel in one of our spare fuel tanks, to check if we could store a full tank in the car while driving. It did not smell at all, so this will not be a problem ๐Ÿ™‚
